Postlight’s 2019 Year-End Giving: The Nonprofits We Love

As 2019 comes to a close, we embark on a favorite tradition here at Postlight where we donate to a collection of 501(c)(3)s that have been chosen by the Postlight team. There are so many incredible organizations working tirelessly to make the world a better place, and we’re grateful for them and proud to be able to offer our support.

Here are the charities and not-for-profits the Postlight team choose to donate to this year.

American Civil Liberties Union

Defend and preserves the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States

American Immigration Council

Works toward a more fair and just immigration system that opens its doors to those in need of protection and unleashes the energy and skills that immigrants bring.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Impatient optimists working to reduce inequity in developing countries and in the United States.

Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Works to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising breast cancer research.

Brooklyn Community Bail Fund

Committed to challenging the criminalization of race, poverty and immigration status, the practice of putting a price on fundamental rights, and the persistent myth that bail is a necessary element of the justice system.

Carbon180

Brings together scientists, policymakers, and businesses to fundamentally rethink carbon.

Change For Kids

Invests in New York City public elementary schools in underserved communities.

Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD)

The nation’s leading nonprofit organization serving people affected by ADHD.

Committee to Protect Journalists

Promotes press freedom and defends the rights of journalists.

EFF

Protects the cornerstones of democracy through public interest legal work, activism, and software development.

Freedom of the Press Foundation

Heal Trafficking

Dedicated to ending human trafficking and supporting its survivors, from a public health perspective.

Focuses exclusively on street/subway homelessness through organizing current and former street homeless New Yorkers and working on policy reform that directly responds to their specific needs.

Provides a free, world‑class education for anyone, anywhere.

Make the Road

Builds the power of immigrant and working class communities to achieve dignity and justice.

Mary McDowell Friends School

Dedicated to the success of students with learning disabilities and grounded in Quaker values.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Research

Provides leadership in the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer through excellence, vision and cost effectiveness in patient care, outreach programs, research, and education.

Midwest Access Coalition

Envisions a world in which all people have access to safe, free, legal abortions wherever they live.

Minnesota Freedom Fund

Pays criminal bail and immigration bond for those who cannot afford to as we seek to end discriminatory, coercive, and oppressive jailing.

NARAL Pro-Choice America

Engages in lobbying, political action, and advocacy efforts to oppose restrictions on abortion and expand access to abortion.

Nick’s Place

Helps young men in their journey through recovery from the disease of addiction

Ozone House

Emergency shelter, safe space, transitional housing, and counseling for homeless youth, LGBT runaway teens and families in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps

Provides life-changing experiences through performing arts education.

Planned Parenthood

Delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of people worldwide.

Support the nation’s fastest-improving urban school district.

The Trevor Project

Provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

Trust Women 

Helping to provide abortion care in underserved communities so that all women can make their own decisions about their health care.

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary

Rescues farmed animals and gives them care and sanctuary, connects animals with people to advance veganism, and advocates for animal rights in alliance with other social justice movements.
