Postlight’s 2018 Year-End Giving: Our Big List of Nonprofits

So 2018’s been a hell of a year, huh? To close it out properly, everyone on the Postlight team got $500 to donate to the 501(c)(3) of their choice – just like we did in 2017 and 2016. So many organizations are working hard to make this world a better place, and we’re grateful for them and proud to be able to offer our support.

Here are the charities and not-for-profits the Postlight team donated to this year.

Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation

Girls Who Code

Works to close the gender gap in technology.

Gyrl Wonder

Helps forward-thinking young women seeking to identify and explore their purpose through mentorship and objective alignment.

Hope & Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund

Funds life-saving work on childhood cancer and blood disorders at Columbia University Medical Center.

Hope for New York

Mobilizes volunteer and financial resources to support non-profit organizations serving the poor and marginalized in New York City.

Direct Relief

Works internationally to equip doctors and nurses with life-saving medicines and supplies needed to care for the world’s most vulnerable people.

Immigrant Law Center of MN

Provides immigration legal assistance to low-income immigrants and refugees in Minnesota.

Japan Society NYC

Works to deepen mutual understanding between the United States and Japan in a global context.

Kids in Need of Defense

Works to ensure that no child appears in immigration court without high quality legal representation.

Learning Disabilities Association of America

Works directly with the parents, professionals, and administrators across the nation who are struggling to meet the needs of children with learning disabilities.

Legal Aid Society

Works to ensure that no New Yorker is denied their right to equal justice because of poverty.

Lucy Parsons Labs

Sheds light on the intersection of digital rights and on-the-streets issues.

Lungevity (ALK Positive Research)

Works to change outcomes for people with lung cancer through research, education, and support.

Mentors, Inc

Provides mentoring support to public and charter high school students in grades 8-12, and improves graduation rates and student’s outlook for the future.

Focuses on fueling the movement for a healthy internet.

Works to make climate change an urgent priority across America and expose the corruption of fossil fuel executives on our politics.

Teach For All

Develops leadership in classrooms and communities to ensure all children can fulfill their potential.

The Ali Forney Center

Protects LGBTQ youth from the harms of homelessness and empowers them with the tools needed to live independently.

The Internet Archive

Builds a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form.

The National Bail Fund Network

Works with organizers, advocates, and legal providers across the country that are using, or contemplating using, community bail funds as part of efforts to radically change local bail systems and reduce incarceration.

The Purr Factory

Rescues abandoned, abused and unwanted felines in the Middle Tennessee area.

The Trevor Project

Provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls

Empowers girls and women through arts and activism.

Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary

Rescues farmed animals and gives them care and sanctuary, connects animals with people to advance veganism, and advocates for animal rights in alliance with other social justice movements.
