Our Code of Conduct

All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our events are required to agree to the following code of conduct. Hosts will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

This code was inspired by Conference Code of Conduct, Open Code of Conduct, and Ashe Dryden. It may be updated from time to time.

The Quick Version

Our events are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical ability and appearance, age, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of event guests in any form. Sexual and/or violent language and imagery is not appropriate for any of the events we hold, whether in person or in online forums. Event attendees violating these rules may be warned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the organizers.

The Less Quick Version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical ability and appearance, age, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. Harassment also includes sexual and/or violent images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Attendees asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Speakers and hosts are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, speakers should not use sexualized and/or violent images, activities, or other material. Event hosts and staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.

If an attendee engages in harassing behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or immediate expulsion from the event. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an event organizer immediately.
