Kirsten Sorton

Director, Product Design

Kirsten Sorton is an award-winning designer and art director with 20+ years of experience. She is comfortable designing in any medium and always brings forward the best design solution for the problem at hand.

Kirsten has worked in marketing, publishing, and fashion industries designing for brands such as Kraft, Coca-Cola, DKNY, School of Visual Arts, and Victoria’s Secret. She started as a print and brand designer and moved into product design at Funny Garbage when it was still called “web design.” There she did website design, wireframes, and branding and interactive games for clients such as MTV, Viacom, and National Geographic.

After Funny Garbage, she worked as a Senior Designer at Sports Illustrated Kids designing and art directing their print magazine, tablet edition, books, and website. She also co-led the redesign of the Time for Kids website. Next, she moved to the digital agency Dom and Tom, as the Associate Director of Product. She did product design and branding on over 30 products from small start-ups to large enterprise clients such as HMH, Channel One, Bloomberg, and the University of Wisconsin.

Kirsten received her BFA in Journalism from Northwestern University and her MFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts. During her career, she has won awards including Type Directors Club, Print Design Annual, UDCA and has been featured in STEP magazine, Print Magazine, and Visual Arts Journal. She also is a keen photographer who shot many punk and ska bands when living in Chicago, but now likes to spend time perfecting her sourdough bread techniques.
